Home Studio

My downtown studio focuses on silhouettes and also touches on pencil portraits and I’m reintroducing Names Dear To My Art. But what about my home studio? If you walk in to my studio and find a helper there instead, chances are I am working on some of my commissioned portraits. I specialize in watercolor but I love oil and pastel as well. I’ve attended workshops and demonstrations and lectures by the nation’s top leaders in traditional, realistic portraiture. The ones who have painted presidents and popes and princesses. Most recently, I travelled to Philadelphia to study at Studio Incamminatti where I had the pleasure to meet and study methods from Nelson Shank (most famous for his portrait of Princess Diana with the white ruffle blouse). I’m a 4th generation portrait artist. I love painting people, drawing figures, and cutting profiles. Here are some photographs of my home studio. I live in Piedmont (15 min. from downtown) so sometimes I can meet you in my home studio if you prefer a more private location.
